Asado Feast+ Guatemala Mission Team Gathering

The mission trip to Guatemala was an unforgettable experience that profoundly impacted my perspective, especially in terms of my faith. Not only did I have the opportunity to engage in meaningful mission work, but I also had the pleasure of meeting an extraordinary group of individuals.

Last Saturday, one of the elders, who was raised in Argentina before his family moved to the States, graciously welcomed our mission team into their home and treated us to a feast featuring his famous asado. If you’re not familiar, asado is a traditional Argentine barbecue where they cook meat over an open fire. The meat portions on our table were absolutely massive, and the flavor and taste matched the size!

The side dishes that accompanied the asado were equally impressive. Yes, that is beautifully rolled kimchi on the bottom, if you can’t tell. (Of course you can’t tell, because kimchi is never rolled like that!) I have never seen kimchi presented with such finesse, especially for a gathering of our size (around 20 people). The attention to detail was extraordinary, and we couldn’t be more grateful for the elder’s family’s dedication in serving our team. They truly embody the qualities I aspire to, and I really wish I could learn from them anything I can to have an exemplary family like theirs. I really wish them abundant blessings in all their future endeavors!
